There’s not a whole lot I can say about this software except that I’ve been using it since 2007 and it’s one of my ‘essential tools’. The free edition of WebCEO is easily the most comprehensive SEO application you will get at that price (free)! It has too many features to mention here but is basically a SEO swiss army knife. Even if you aren’t into search engine optimisation you should install WebCEO and run a report on your website to see how it stacks up against competing websites. WebCEO will point out any glaring (or not so glaring) issues with the way search engines see your website. Given that most web traffic comes via search engines you should, at the very least, make sure your website is search engine friendly.

Besides the software, WebCEO offer several SEO certification and training courses that will help you to get the most out of search engine traffic.

A little over a year ago I tried a new software application called ‘Artisteer’. I’m a programmer and technical guy myself and I honestly don’t have an artistic bone in my body. Without even a tiny amount of exaggeration I have to say that I was totally blown away by Artisteer. Firstly, because I am a programmer, I tend to look at software with a fairly critical eye – before I even use it. Placement of user options, the overall look of the user interface and the degree of difficulty in finding specific options are always high on my list of the things that I look at first.

I’m pleased to say that Artisteer passed with flying colours! The user interface is broken down into sections that relate to all of the specific areas of a web page. It is very intuitive and incredibly easy to use. The resulting web templates are just amazing for someone who doesn’t do design and has trouble even with basic stick figures .

The Artisteer package provides a large number of header and content graphics as well as many ways to lay them out and enhance them with several effects.

Whats more is that it doesn’t just do web templates – it can also create Wordpress blog templates, Joomla templates and Drupal templates!

I don’t want to sound like I’m just trying to hype it up – I’m not – Artisteer is one of a very few ‘killer applications’ and an absolute necessity for any small business person who wants to create a very polished and professional looking website.
